Rough night last night, didn't get much sleep and took a long, long while to fall asleep.
Woke up and packed my things, trail angel ended up staying around to see me off before starting her day. Had a cup of coffee, and she cooked up a delicious breakfast of eggs and other leftovers, what a great way to start the day.
A different trail angel had offered me a ride back to the trail, which was super helpful since it was about 30 miles away at this point. A mountain biker by choice, she was a great conversationalist and even swung through a McDonalds so I could get second breakfast before hitting the trail.
After dropping me off at the trail I used the facilities, and slowly rearranged my gear to accommodate the abundance of tortilla chips I bought for the next few days of walking. As I repacked I conversated with a mountain biker who was also being dropped off to continue his journey southbound.
It was another beautiful day on trail, with very much sun, few clouds, and perfect temperatures in the low 60's.
Just after mid day I ended up stumbling upon Colossal Cave, a tourist site and pretty amazing historical area. It was approximately half a mile off trail, but totally worth it - they had WiFi, outlets, and a snack bar as well.
After chatting with the wife and kid and eating $20 worth of chili and burritos, I introduced myself to a few other hikers who were hanging around, taking off shortly thereafter.
Rest of the day was pretty uneventful, walking ever so closer to Mica Mountain, which has ominously loomed in full view for the entire afternoon. At 8600', it's quite a climb, especially since I'm camped for the night at 3100'.
Looking forward to getting up and over to some of, what I've been told, the most scenic and beautiful parts of the trail.
