Spent the majority of the day relaxing at a family friend's home in north Phoenix. On our way back to the trail we had a nice picnic lunch by a lake with sandwiches and drinks, people watching all the while as it was a beautifully cool Sunday afternoon.
Dropped off around 1500, I cruised on off into the late afternoon, working my way slowly uphill. Shortly after leaving the highway and the adjacent rolling hills, the rest of the afternoon was spent walking through various ravines. While the views weren't very good, it did help to keep the direct sun out of my face.
Another long climb ahead, I made it approximately a third of the way up before finding one of the last reasonable places to tent. Camped at the intersection of a side trail, the only place to reasonably set up was directly on trail slightly down the side trail, so here's hoping no one comes a walking.
Looks like it's going to be a windy night.
