Wicked hot day today.
Started out OK, packed up relatively early and moved on up trail per usual. This section has been particularly rocky and hard to follow, lava rocks all over and continually a (literal) uphill battle.
Didn't have any streams or springs to drink from for most of the day, cattle tanks were the only option. Between the heat and the delicious water, I had a hard time putting enough fluids into my body.
Seventeen tough miles later I made it to town, a kind older gentleman out for a short walk offered to drive me into town, which was a huge help.
Grocery store had a small griddle attached so I had some fried chicken and sides as I planned the next section's resupply.
Texted another hiker to see if he was in town and he mentioned a trail angel who owns a vineyard and hosts hikers, gave him a call and off I went.
Dude has a wicked cool setup on his property, rents it to fancy people during the busy season and lets hikers stay when we're around. Happened to be the owner's birthday as well so there was tons of food and cake to boot.
Back to the trail tomorrow, but not until I grab some breakfast and hit up the post office.
