Spent the whole day walking on pavement.
Whether it is the paved bike path that is the LOST, or the two different multi-mile bypass road walks, pavement was underfoot.
Swung through a cool little fishing camp on my way from the LOST to the first road walk of the day. Bought a cold soda and filled up my water bottles before heading out.
The LOST isn't so bad, at least you can move quickly. Me and road walks don't get along particularly well, even more so when they're on high speed two lane roads.
Ended up playing a game today that started as a informal survey, but overwhelmed me quickly as the submissions piled in. Let's just say I have an album on my phone now called "Beer Cans of the Florida Trail" which obtains a picture for each unique brand of beer can/bottle that I spotted on the side of the road walks I did today. While informal, I can attest that whoever is driving around tossing beer cans and bottles from their vehicles, they drink A TON of Modelo, Michelob Ultra, and Busch Lite.
Passed through the town of Moore Haven early afternoon and ate at a local cafe. Onion rings, cheese sticks, a fried pork chop with rice and beans, a piece of delicious corn bread, and a gallon or two of sweet tea definitely hit the spot.
Spent an hour or so talking with two older women in the cafe learning the local gossip as my electronics charged.
Finished off the day walking on the LOST for a few miles before being detoured back to a busy road for the reminder of the evening. Landed at an unofficial campsite tonight, and the local wildlife is pretty rowdy. It did warm up to about 70 degrees Fahrenheit today though, so that might have something to do with it.
Been eight days since I slept with a roof over my head, did laundry, or had a shower. Should probably look into that sometime in the near future.
