Woke up this morning to the sound of some local 'hikers' who came in late yesterday afternoon. They spent the majority of the night drinking and hollering about, only to be up at the crack of dawn to continue their reveries.
It was good to be awake so early, just not my idea of a proper wake up call.
Regardless, I didn't sleep very well so it didn't really matter and I rolled out of camp quickly.
There was a gentleman who we met yesterday hiking who offered a few of us a ride into town the next day. We met him at the road leading into Bennington, VT and he drove us in and bought us coffee. I picked up my mail drop at the post office and hitched on out with another hiker.
Shortly after returning to the trail it started pouring rain, and it didn't stop until well into the afternoon. I would have liked to have gone on, but was borderline hypothermic so I stopped for the day. I'm satisfied with the miles I did though so it isn't too big a deal.
Tomorrow will be rough as well since it's supposed to continue to rain on and off all week, and I'll be putting wet boots and socks back on tomorrow, but I'm starting to learn that even the worst day on the trail is better then most days in my life typically.
