Woke up this morning to a huge hail storm beating down on my tent. Stopped a few minutes later, but was indicative of how the rest of the day would go.
Out by 0830, which isn't too bad considering it was about thirty degrees Fahrenheit and I was moving incredibly slow. Temperature didn't rise much during the day, and ended up walking in a cloud throughout. Super misty, very cold, especially since I don't have any of my winter gear yet. Shorts, short sleeve shirt, rain jacket, beanie, buff, and a pair of glove liners got me through the day mostly unscathed.
Started snowing around noon, kept up all afternoon. Total accumulation was around two-three inches. Again, would have been mostly alright if I had a lick of winter clothes with me.
Managed to still put on the miles, but not without feeling very, very cold. Attempted to make it all the way into Sierra City, but as soon as the snow started falling the trail became practically invisible, which slowed things down drastically. Took a few wrong turns and had to backtrack on multiple occasions.
Town tomorrow. Probably spend some time there, hopefully grab a hot shower, some laundry, and resupply food for the next stretch.
