Woke up pretty early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Headed down to the general store where the WiFi is and took care of some business. Downloaded podcasts, sent a few emails, talked with the wife.
Went back to the church as the sun rose to where we were all camped and packed up all my things. Managed to finish up just as the town bakery was opening up. Purchased some coffee, a fresh baguette, a fresh cinnamon roll, and a day old of each for the road.
Town is a mile and a half away from the trail, so as we were walking out the baker gave each of us another baguette for the road. Then someone else offered us a ride up to the trail. Best leaving party from a town yet.
Climbed up for most of the day, over 4,000 feet from our start. The temperature dropped throughout the day as the elevation increased, and we encountered more snow and ice along the way. Locals keep telling us to expect an Indian Summer, still waiting for it to happen.
The mountains are getting bigger as we make our way towards the Sierras. Scenic vistas and wide open skies, are *definitely* on the menu.
