Hiked late last night, woke up later than usual and was out of camp by 0830.
Long day of continuous climbing. First eighteen miles was almost all an uphill slog. Weather held out and while not comfortable, was manageable. Bright sun, cold wind, quick hiking pace to stay warm.
Handful of really amazing views today. Even though today was mostly above 7,500 feet, there were some incredible lakes and mountainous backdrops. Crossed up and over Dick's Pass today as well, topping out at around 9,400 feet of elevation.
Pleasant enough afternoon, much of it hiking downhill. Temperatures really started to drop late in the day, and as the sun set I needed to put on quite a few more articles of clothing.
South Lake Tahoe tomorrow. Looking forward to getting my cold weather gear, a hot meal, and cruising further down the trail.
