Rough day of traveling. Many delays, running on little to no sleep. Airport sleeping is never good, even when you have a cot, a sleeping bag, ear plugs, and something to block the light from your eyes.
Regardless, made it to Seattle. I was so mentally, physically, and emotionally beat that I treated myself to a ride share service to the hostel. Found a $15 off coupon so it came out to be only a few dollars more that the train, with *way* less hassles and walking.
Prior to coming out I met a few other hikers on Facebook who were heading to the trail at the same time. The northern terminus is pretty remote, so pooling our resources is necessary to reduce costs of transportation.
Even so, we'll have to hike eighteen miles before actually getting to the trail, then hike another seventeen miles in the wrong direction (north), before we touch the northern terminus and begin our journeys.
Bumped into two of the ride sharing hikers in the lobby, happen to be rooming with one of them. Unpacked briefly, then took off to a grocery store and purchased dinner for this evening as well as eight days of trail food. Many resupplies are much further apart than the average than the AT.
Went out to dinner with the two, third met up with us at the restaurant. When we parted ways I headed over to a gas station a half a mile away to pick up some fuel for my stove.
Walked back, finalized up my packing, took a shower and went to bed.
I was completely exhausted and in a really bad place for most of the day. Looking forward to putting this day many, many miles behind me.
