Long, long day.
Woke up again with the sun, out of camp around 0700. Hiked 8.5 miles straight through to Hopkins Lake where I decided to slack pack myself the rest of the day. This is only possible because when I get to the border I'll turn around and walk back to the lake. Hung all my extra food and unnecessaries in a tree with my bear bagging rope and started walking
It was 12.8 round trip from the lake to the border and back, definitely glad I left my stuff. It was an incredibly warm and sunny day, and I didn't realize how much sun I was getting until it was much too late. Hiking twenty one miles in the blazing sun is tough, and getting sun burned doesn't help any. Combined with the altitude I couldn't drink nearly enough water so now I'm feeling pretty shit, and have diarrhea as well. I hope it's just altitude sickness or something similar and not giardia.
The views are pretty amazing though.
