Woke up this morning to a tent full of gritty, sandy dust. Wind blew pretty hard last night.
Another uneventful day with amazing views. I've taken more pictures in the past few days than in an entire month on the Appalachian Trail.
Starting to get a feel for the rhythm of the daily weather patterns here in this part of the country and elevation. Day starts out chilly, even more so if you're shaded by the huge ridge lines. Slowly your body warms up as you walk but even still a beanie and long sleeve shirt might be required to stay warm.
As the sun rises higher in the sky you remember where you didn't apply sunscreen, until your face feels like you fell asleep on the beach all day.
The temperature continues to rise, and soon you can't drink enough water to match your expenditures and you start to overheat or begin to show the signs of heat exhaustion.
Soon the sun sets, the temperature dropping with it, but it remains light for much longer than you think possible.
Finally, it is dark, and the temperature has dropped too many degrees to count. Been sleeping with my water filter so it doesn't freeze st night, many mornings I wake up to find my water bottles slushy.
Still some of the most amazing views I've ever seen.
Heading into town tomorrow to talk to the wife, and to resupply with more food.
