Today's Miles: 4.5 (approach miles)
Left the hostel around 1100 this morning after packing up and eating multiple hearty breakfasts. The five of us mobbed it around town completing last minute errands and then grabbed cabs to the bus station.
Five hours and a bus ride, trail angel shuttle, and a water taxi later, we were standing at the foot of the devil's dome trail ready to start moving.
Long up today. 4,200 feet over 4.5 miles. It was literally nothing but up.
Made it to the campsite before dark, but not before hauling 4.5 liters of water in addition to eight days of food.
Water is sparse on this approach trail - but water carries are apparently part and parcel on the PCT.
Set up camp, ate a bag of potato chips, drank a bunch of water and hit the rack. A lot colder than I expected at night up here in the elevations, we'll see just how well the little clothing I brought works out.
