Left camp late this morning, didn't start hiking until 0900. Even so I managed to get in the miles I needed, although I did feel a bit rushed at the end of the day.
Hiked all morning up a slushy, snowy bowl in misty, foggy weather, only to be rewarded with amazing views and the sun coming out at the top. It's pretty amazing how the north side of all these ranges are covered in snow still, while the south sides are covered in beautiful wildflowers, green grass, and tons of animals running around.
Was treated to many miles downhill after that, with nothing but animal encounters and wildflowers. After not seeing a single soul the past few days, I bumped into quite a few today. Before even checking my calendar, I had a feeling it was a weekend and of course that's correct.
Completely losing track of time out here. Six days between resupply and civilization is reason enough, but not seeing a single person for days is pretty extreme.
Bumped into a USFS Ranger today as well, he was clearing the trail and putting up various signs for the incoming northbound thru hikers. Starting to get used to being one of those weird south bounders (dirty, dirty NOBOs).
Otherwise, another beautiful day in the North Cascades. So many pictures, again not doing the place justice.
Might be in town tomorrow, but it wouldn't be until late in the evening. Food is coming down to the wire, but I've enough to make it in. Really looking forward to being back in contact with the wife.
Can't believe it hasn't rained yet. Let's hope that it keeps up.
