Woke up and laid in bed for a little while, had a tough time getting moving. Then I remembered today was town day and that gave me a bit of extra umph to get going.
Short five mile jaunt into town, mostly downhill. Arrived at Callahan's Lodge around 1000, a short side trip from the trail.
Met up with Frosty, haven't seen him for a few weeks. We hitched into Ashland, OR and headed straight for a taqueria. Delicious food ensued, I had a huge burrito, quevous rancheros, and an horchata mixed with iced coffee.
Went on over to the post office next. Frosty picked up a resupply package, I sent home my stove. My stove-less experiment was successful, probably won't bring the stove back unless it gets really cold.
Hit up a brewery/coffee shop next, had two iced americanos and used the blazing fast wifi to download some podcasts, music, and extra maps. Two fire closures down the trail mean some more forest service road walking and detours. Too bad the PCTA isn't very good at helping with workaround routes.
Swung by a Safeway to resupply, packed up, and met Frosty outside. Some north bounders had the phone number of a local trail angel so I gave him a call and he took us back to the trail.
At Callahan's we picked up our free beer tickets, downed a pint each, and walked back to the trail. Ten miles later we made it to our destination for the night, camping right alongside the trail.
Next few days will be interesting. Looks like we'll be detouring it up.
