Late start today, had an old man asking twenty questions as we packed up. Slept in a field across from where he'd parked his fifth wheel for the weekend, so he brought out his young granddaughter to investigate.
Walked a few miles before running into some trail magic. A nice gentleman had left two coolers of fizzy drinks and lawn chairs for us to relax in. No one bothered us, and the coolers were stacked full, probably because most are skipping this section due to the local wildfires.
Hiked all day with Frosty again. He's pretty good company, about ten years younger. The conversations go all over the place, but it's still enjoyable enough.
Crossed over into California today. Two states down, only 1,700 miles to go 🤙.
Stopped for lunch at a broken down cabin a short distance off the trail. Aired the feet, applied some New Skin, and changed my socks over to a set I washed in a stream earlier this morning.
Continued on hiking, walking and chatting as we went. There's a fire closure ahead of us, so we stopped a mile or two out from it to camp and make plans. Haven't seen another hiker all day, most have just hitched around the closure.
