Woke up at the RV park pretty early. Packed up and headed on over to the cafe for breakfast.
Had myself a plate of biscuits and gravy, two eggs, sourdough toast, a ham steak, and a couple cups of coffee. Used the wifi to update the journal and download some maps for offline use later.
Stepped off from town on a sixty mile road walk. The trail is impassable due to fire, but the roads are almost identical in mileage.
Spent the day pounding the pavement. It was in the upper 90's and hot, but luckily there was plenty of water throughout.
Breakfast powered me for most of the day, but I stopped early in the afternoon to snack and prepare dinner. Got a couple of breakfast Mountain House meals in the hiker box at the RV camp, so I dumped them into my plastic Talenti container and poured in some water.
Hiked a few more miles until close to darkness. The road I've been walking has been working it's way up and through a canyon all day so spots to camp have been pretty limited.
Found myself a little sand bar down by the river that's been following the road all day. Had to put on my camp shoes to get to it, but it's large enough for my whole tent. As long as we don't have a flash flood everything should be fine...
Shins are really tight and a bit painful from road walking all day. I'm sure they'll be fine tomorrow.
Twenty nine miles to Etna, CA. Probably won't make it tomorrow since it'd be a long day and I wouldn't get in until late, so I'll tent outside of town and cruise on in the next day.
