Woke up early, but since I didn't get very good sleep I rolled face down and tried to block out the morning sun. I was not successful so I started packing up for the day.
Out around 0700, and didn't stop at all today. Ate my food on the go, and scooped up water when I walked past it.
Today is a town day - ain't got time to screw around on the trail!
Uneventful day mostly, still plenty of smoke in the air with new fires popping up further south. I did miss a water source just before a twelve mile waterless stretch, so I walked dry for a couple of hours and just sucked it up. It was fine, and made the water I eventually got to taste even sweeter.
Listened to comedy skits most of the day. Most of the major streaming services have comedians, and I find them pretty entertaining while walking getting baked in the sun.
Made it into town around 1700 and walked straight to the Ale House that offers a free beer to hikers. Myself and a Finnish gentleman named Hot Coffee who's hiking northbound ate our food and chatted, and after our meal was over had another beer together.
The hiker "burger" I ate ended up being a large beef patty, three strips of bacon, cheese, with the buns of the sandwich being two slices of pizza each, op top and bottom.
When we went to pay for our meals, we were informed that some kind gentleman had paid for both our dinners. Humanity does still exist.
After dinner I walked over to the local store, grabbed a pint of Ben and Jerry's, a Gatorade, and and half gallon of chocolate milk - all to snack on before bed. I finished the ice cream on the five minute walk to the trail angel's home.
Walked just up the road to a local trail angel's home where many hikers were already setup in his back lawn. He provides donation-based showers and laundry, as well as space to camp.
Set up my tent, took a quick shower, holding off on doing the laundry until tomorrow morning.
