Woke up before the sun, packed up and was out of camp by 0700.
Saw a wolf this morning as I was walking down the trail, took one look at me and bolted in the opposite direction. Been seeing a lot more wildlife over the past two days, probably has something to do with the smaller numbers of hikers out here right now.
First half of the day wasn’t much to look at. Scrub forests, no views, lots of climbing. Nice views near the end of the day though, managed to have a pretty amazing view of Mount Shasta as the sun set.
Appears that a fire was lit last night during the lightening storm. Saw a small amount of smoke this morning as I was packing up, the fire grew throughout the day until it was blazing in the night sky. Camping far enough away to be safe, but it was definitely unexpected.
Pretty exhausted once again. Not sure if it’s jet lag or just my body taking time to reacclimatize to the altitude, lower humidity or what, but I’m pretty wasted just like last night. Couldn’t even finish my journal last night, had to write this morning.
