Sleepy, exhausted start this morning. Took my time, out of camp by 0845.
Pretty uneventful morning, gently uphill for a few hours.
Arrived at a road crossing and some forest service personnel informed me the trail ahead was closed. Not due to a fire, but they wouldn't allow anyone on the trail south.
With not many options to chose from, I found an alternate a few miles south down the road. I hitched up my pack and started on another road walk.
When I got to the trail intersection I stopped by a stream, filled up my water, and put my dinner in to soak.
I'm not even sure why this trail is on the map that I have. It crossed over some obviously private property, a huge raging river, and directly up a cliff face. It's so faint that it isn't even recognizable anymore, so overgrown that I'm literally bushwhacking, all uphill.
Sleeping tonight on an old dirt road. Not sure if it's a forest service road, or private property. There are some relatively fresh tire tracks, hope no one shows up tonight. Not the ideal camping spot by far, but since I'm stomping my way up the side of a mountain, it's the only flat spot I could find before it got dark.
We'll see what tomorrow holds.
