Solid first full day on trail.
Got up an hour before sunrise, packed up, ate some a quick breakfast and was on my way.
Walked with the early morning sun into Lake Morena and swung by a small store just off trail. Asked to borrow a set of pliers and managed to get one trekking pole unstuck, but the other is pretty stubbornly seized up.
Skipped buying any snacks or breakfast. This trip is a bit different in that I spent a bit of coin before buying and shipping out healthy snacks up trail. To mitigate spending more than usual, many meals in town are going to be cut.
It's an experiment, so we'll see how it goes.
Stopped by the Lake Morena campsite for hikers and used the facilities, filled up on water, went through the hiker box. Hiker box was overflowing already with all sorts of unnecessary gear, including much cold weather equipment that people mistakenly brought out way too early.
Pretty uneventful day otherwise. Loads of people out here, sun got super hot, making sure you have enough water is critical, and not being too proud to siesta in the shade midday is already ingrained.
Stopped a bit early, two hours before sunset. Made it further than I intended and didn't want to get stuck in the small town of Mount Laguna overnight, so my spot two miles outside of town works. May or may not head into town tomorrow, probably won't since I have everything I need and am going in to Julian tomorrow to pickup replacement poles I sent to myself.
