Slept alright last night, camp site was well chosen. Wind was still pretty wild, but the majority of it was blocked by the surrounding terrain.
Woke up earlier than normal, packed up in the dark. Needed a headlamp to walk for the first hour.
Wind was incredible all day, and at some points strong enough to blow me over. Spent much of the day leaning into the wind while walking to keep from falling over into the various spiky desert plants. Pretty cold as well, ended up wearing glove liners and a beanie for most of the day.
Beautiful sights, transitioned from high desert to a high plains sort of environ.
Long day otherwise, over thirty miles walked today. Ended up making it to the town of Warner Springs, stopping at the community center for the evening. The town allows hikers to camp on their property, and offer amenities (bucket showers, sinks to do laundry, hiker boxes, WiFi, snacks, town clothes) and is incredibly inviting.
Chatted with the wife on the phone while I set up my tent for the evening. Took a bucket shower, scrubbed my clothes, chatted briefly with a few other hikers.
There has to be at least forty hikers here tonight, and for the next few weeks it'll be just as packed.
Heading into town tomorrow where I'll grab my resupply box, supplement with some groceries, and head back to the trail.
