Got woken up by some early morning hikers jabbering away this morning. Couldn't go back to sleep so I packed up my stuff with the sun, and off I went.
More up today, didn't quite make it up all twenty miles of the climb yesterday. Ended up walking pretty slow to keep pace with a section hiker who was finishing up his section today and who appeared to be very sad about leaving.
Made it into Wrightwood around noon. Town is incredibly friendly and hospitable towards hikers. The people who gave me a hitch invited me to spend the evening at their home, which sounded like too good of an offer to pass up.
Ran my town errands, resupplied, and picked up a package. Killed time before getting picked up again by purchasing a burrito and relaxing in the shade with a few other hikers.
Randomly bumped into a fellow thru hiker from the AT back in 2016. was really good to see him and spend a few minutes catching up
Trail angel picked me up and drove me back to their place. Managed a shower, laundry, and drank a few beers as the afternoon waned away. We had "bowling alley" tacos, which were amazing, and went out to a local bar to have a post-dinner beer before bed.
One of the host's children kindly offered up their bed for me to crash in, himself going to sleep on a couch.
All in all, one of the kindest gestures I've experienced hiking yet.
