So windy last night. Had trouble sleeping it was so loud. Tent held up, but just barely. Luckily enough I pitched properly in a small wind break provided by a large bush.
With over twelve hours of sunlight each day, I see no reason to set an alarm or get up early to make the miles I need to. Some people enjoy getting up early and hiking, and while I've done it on occasion and see the appeal, I'd much rather walk into the evening instead.
Windy for most of the day as well, getting tossed all over the trail. Extra water for today's extended carry helped weigh me down so it wasn't too bad.
Hit the only water source of the day just after noon. I drank a ton of water last night in my tent most likely due to the amount of salty and greasy pizza I had before coming out. Arrived the spring on empty but it worked out ok.
Sat and drank a liter talking to some other hikers I've met before. Didn't think I'd see any of them after taking four days off, but I did and it's good to see them.
Spent the rest of the day walking on up some beautiful grassy hills. The desert is mostly behind and to the east, and while it's still pretty dry the flora and fauna are thriving.
Camped in a pass of two mountaintops, the wind whipping through the treetops. It's calm enough down in the pass, which is great, because it sounds like a mess out there.
