What a day.
Woke up a few short hours after my head hit the pillow. Had an alarm set for 0100, ended up waking up naturally around 1230.
Packed up all of my gear, grabbed clothing and food for the day, left my extra items under the porch of the ranger station.
I'm still a bit affected by today's climb up Whitney. I was alone, in bitter cold, blazing trail though freshly fallen snow, on the highest mountain in the lower 48. It was harrowing at times, and I *almost* slipped and careened off the side of a cliff on multiple occasions.
It was asinine to even attempt, and I'm a bit ashamed I continued on. Oh, and I was feeling the effects of altitude sickness pretty hard as well, adding to the danger.
Managed to summit and descend without getting injured. It was an incredibly draining experience, and I decided not to hike any further today. Set up my tent in the same spot as last night, did all chores, took a nap, haven't left the tent all afternoon.
Forester pass tomorrow, highest point on trail and the last dangerous pass of the Sierra, or so I hope.
