My decision last night to camp out in the quarry went well. There was a little snow/sleet throughout the night, but otherwise I stayed warm and dry.
Upon reaching route 19, I walked the .3 down the four lane road to the Mountain Harbour B&B for a resupply, but when I got there they were in the middle of serving breakfast. The owner asked if I wouldn't mind waiting a few minutes for her to open their little general store, and offered me a cup of coffee in the house, so I sat down with a hiker I knew and talked for a little bit while I used their wifi to download new podcasts to listen to.
Another weird day of weather, with sunshine and dark clouds around all day. Intermittently it would lightly snow on me as I would hike along, but nothing too serious.
Near the end of yesterday's hike I started to get a shin splint in my left leg. The pain prevailed until this morning when I waked down to the hostel, so when I left the hostel I popped a few ibuprofen (my first!), and made tentative plans to hike out the first shelter which was only nine or so miles out. Upon arriving at the shelter I felt good, so I decided to hike an additional ten miles to the next shelter.
About two miles out, it started to snow, and as soon as I arrived at the shelter it began to snow down hard. I've got plenty of warmth to sleep in, I'm just glad I made t to the shelter and that there was space inside for me tonight.
And, oh yea - hit 400 miles today!
